Ethical, Trust, and Skill Hurdles Impede Generative AI Advancements in EMEA

76% of consumers in EMEA believe that AI will have a significant impact in the next five years, with concerns over its value and applications at 47% and 41%, respectively, according to research by Alteryx.

Since the launch of ChatGPT by OpenAI in November 2022, generative AI has been a topic of discussion due to its transformative potential. With 79% of organizations seeing a positive contribution from generative AI, there is a need to bridge the gap in demonstrating its value to consumers. Issues like trust, ethics, and skills are hindering the successful deployment of generative AI, as highlighted in the 'Market Research: Attitudes and Adoption of Generative AI' report.

Concerns about misinformation, inaccuracies, and AI hallucinations are prevalent among both business leaders and consumers. Trust in the output of generative AI remains a challenge, with worries about fake news, misuse by hackers, and inaccurate data being common. Additionally, ethical concerns and risks are a key issue, with opposition to using generative AI in critical decision-making areas.

As generative AI evolves, the need for relevant skills and enhanced data literacy is crucial to unlock its full potential. Trevor Schulze, CIO of Alteryx, emphasizes the importance of addressing trust issues, ethical concerns, skills shortages, and privacy fears in order to benefit from generative AI technology.
